They walk that line closer than most other characters to begin with. For now, just know that if you keep raising your Dex to equip the best guns before your level allows you to, you will end up with a crap character, and shooty Outlanders don’t have a whole lot of margin for screwing up before they’re utterly worthless. Some builds can swap between weapon types easily, while others are more specialized based on skill selection. Stat-wise, you will use the same attribute allocation regardless of what type of weapon you want to use. If you have 109 and max all the appropriate skills, you can hit the dodge cap, but nice round numbers appeal me more than putting one more stat point into something else. I started with a 50/50 split between Strength and Dex until I got to 115 Dex, and then put everything into Strength from that point on. The first thing you need to know about shooty Outlanders is that too much Dex is crap, but you need some anyway. Block chance increases by +_% per point. Armor increases by +_% per point, no cap. (needs more research) - Might have diminishing returns. Vitality: Increases max health, bonus armor, block chance. Execute chance increases by +_% per point. Magic damage increases by +0.5% per point, no cap. Every 2 points will give 1 max mana point.

Focus: Increases max mana, magic damage, execute chance. Fumble recovery increases by _% per point. Crit chance and dodge chance both increase by +_% per point. Dexterity: Increases crit chance, dodge chance, fumble recovery. Critical hit damage increases by +0.4% per point. Add another 4 points, 1 max damage.) - Weapon damage increases by +0.5% per point, no cap. Min/max weapon damage increases by 1 every 4 points. Strength: Increases weapon min/max damage, weapon damage, crit damage. Finally, keep in mind that these bonuses are from stat points alone, and are calculated seperately from gear bonuses. At level 100, you will have a total of 495 stat points to use from leveling up alone. If there is one, I have not reached it, even with console commands. These stat points also appear to have no cap. :) These stat bonuses appear to be the same for each class, based on my tests. I'm just doing this research to help others, and to see how much Dex I should pump into my hammer engineer. Nor do I plan to, since they're a bit over my head, and would take a lot of time. I have not looked into those on the Arcane Statistics (J). Last updated 9/24/12, as of game version: 1.11.5.3 (I may not continue this, we'll see if anything groundbreaking comes out in the upcoming patches.) Please note: These stats are the ones shown on the Character Panel (C).

Torchlight 2 Main Stat Research v0 by Lnmul This file documents my research and results for the bonuses given by the four main stats in Torchlight 2: Strength, Dexterity, Focus, and Vitality.
